Watermelon Sorbet

We received a HUGE bucket of watermelon pieces from a church member:) HUGE!! And since it was already cut up it needed to be eaten!!!

So I pulled out the ice cream/sorbet maker:)

And tweaked an easy, easy recipe;) This is what I did...

1 1/4 cup of water
1 1/4 cup of sugar
8 cups of blended watermelon
3 Tbs of orange juice

anyway, it was too much liquid for my ice cream maker!! but what did go in the first time was all the liquid and no "pulp".... that batch was delicious!!

I tried to use the rest of the mix and it never did firm up. Finally I froze it, but it wasn't good... I learned... leave out the "pulp"!

I made another batch when we had the Woods visited:) I thought about using the juice around some mandarin oranges I used for our fruit salad. It was a little less sweet but good...

I like sweeet;) So the next time I'll go back to using sugar!

And I won't even share what showed up at my house today in a white bucket:) Chris shouted,"Can we make more watermelon ice?"

That looks super yummy! Does a sorbet maker work much different than an icecream maker? I have one of those and wonder if this recipe would work with that.
